Horrors persist for Mali the "saddest" elephant

Apparently, today is rainbow bridge rememberance day. I don't know who declared today is a day for whatever-topic days but I don't really subscribe to all these Hallmark-like days. But today I write because we have forgotten the essential things.

If you are new here, I may need to reintroduce my writing and myself. I have never been "all love and light." I do my best to be grounded in my earthly embodiment so when I witness the Other, be it human or non-human, I do my best to see them fully as they are. My tone today is heavy because this whole season has been a heavier and burdensome. (There are so many fosters who have transitioned and some who are still fighting to survive. Join my newsletter for these updates and calls for help 🫶)

Since today is a designated day for remembering, I invite my friends to remember the place of humans in this world. I want you to look at your animal friend right now and see them as they are, and not what you, your vet, your therapist, and society says they should be. Specifically and for today, I cry for Mali who was taxidermied and displayed after she had to endure years of loneliness at the local zoo. She was said to be a gift to the city, but what gift have we given back to her? Think about it. If this angers you, write to the museum and the city that continues to deny her restful peace. Imagine if she were not an elephant and your little dog or cat or hamster or friend, would it be OK with you?

Look them in the eye and ask

"My little love, who are you?"

Of course it isn't just Mali. There are so many animals abused by humans. Not all of them will know love. No one can save all. Choose the accessible pivots to kindness in your lives. If you are in a position to directly help, continue to help. If you are angry, the animals can use your voice because humans possess the language that moves politics. If you have a little beating heart, command it to be brave. Animals are not "put on earth" to "do something" FOR humans. We share this world with Them.

If today is a day for remembering the rainbow bridge, and an animal communicator who communicates with Souls, today we grieve for those denied peace.

We have no shame.
